Architect Ken Tate marries extensive knowledge of architectural history and craft with an understanding of modern living to create houses that resonate with the past while delighting in the present.
Whether inspired by American, English, European, or West Indian tradition, his designs are characterized by perfect proportions, authentic materials, and sensitivity to their surroundings. Within the house, inventive floor plans and thoughtfully detailed rooms unite timeless traditions with contemporary lifestyles to satisfy both the senses and the soul.
Tate Design Studio's bespoke designs draw from Tate's 35 years of experience in the field, which has garnered him awards from Southern Progress, the American Institute of Architects, and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. Houses designed by Tate for an international clientele have been published in American and foreign magazines including Architectural Digest, Veranda, Traditional Home, Milieu, and Southern Accents, among others. In 2010, he was named by Architectural Digest magazine as one of their AD100 list of influential architects and designers.
